BANGI, Feb 18 (Bernama) -- Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCARE) conducts continuous audits to ensure the funds that have been raised are not misused and reach the intended recipients, said its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Kamal Nasharuddin Mustapha.

He said every contribution will be spent according to the regulations set by the government.

“The process of delivering aid to recipients worldwide, whether in Palestine, Turkiye or Myanmar, must adhere to the guidelines and regulations set by the government,” he told reporters after the Bina Semula Gaza (BSG) high tea function here today.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasised the need for transparency in managing funds raised for charity in the country.

Anwar, who is also the Minister of Finance, said organisations must adhere to regulations when raising funds to ensure they are channelled to the target groups.

Asked to comment on the report of three Islamic non-governmental organisations (NGO) leaders being listed in the United States Terrorist Screening Centre (TSC) by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) yesterday, Kamal Nasharuddin said MyCARE is leaving the matter to the authorities.

He said it should not affect the efforts of Malaysians to contribute and provide assistance to Palestinians and people in other nations.

“…NGOs must ensure that we comply with the regulations set by the authorities,” he said.

Foreign Affairs Ministry has ordered the three individuals not to be involved in Op Ihsan, which oversees the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in Gaza.

On the BSG donation drive, Kamal Nasharuddin said MyCARE aims to raise RM1 million for the Palestinians’ housing and education, adding that so far, MyCARE had purchased two ambulances and 500 tents to be sent to Gaza.
