JOHOR BAHRU, Jan 18 (Bernama) -- The Johor State Government through the Johor State Housing Development Corporation (PKPJ) continues to assist the middle-income group (M40) in owning residences in Iskandar Puteri through the implementation of the Eco Botanic 3 project.

Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said that for this purpose, PKPJ has formed a strategic partnership with Permodalan Darul Ta’zim Sdn Bhd (PDT); Iskandar Investment Bhd (IIB) through its subsidiary, River Retreat Sdn Bhd (RRSB); and Eco World Development Group Bhd (EcoWorld).

He said the project, to be developed in phases by the main developer EcoWorld, would offer 3,746 housing units.

Onn Hafiz said of the total housing units, 1,008 units, including 700 apartment units, would be offered at prices starting from less than RM400,000 per unit while 308 terrace houses would start from less than RM500,000 per unit.

“This project is a continuation of the successful Eco Botanic 2 project, which received an encouraging response, especially from the Bumiputera M40 group, with over 94 per cent of units sold since the development at Presinct 1 and 2 was launched in 2021.

“Following this success, the state government will continue with a mixed housing development known as Eco Botanic 3, where the M40 group will have the opportunity to own premium and exclusive properties developed at strategic locations in EduPark East and EduPark West, Iskandar Puteri with a land area of 240.314 acres (approximately 97.25 hectares) owned by IIB,” he said in a statement today.

Onn Hafiz said the state government strived to ensure the progress of the housing sector in the state remained competitive, especially in providing comfortable and affordable homes for the M40 group.

“God willing, the state government will collaborate with more developers to produce more homes for ownership of all segments of society,” he said.

Meanwhile, IIB, in a separate statement, said its collaboration with PKPJ, PDT, and EcoWorld allowed the company to play a crucial role in providing affordable housing solutions for the M40 group.

“As we approach the goal of reaching a living and working population of 600,000 by 2030, we have strong confidence that this project will not only contribute to achieving population growth but also serve as a catalyst for increased investments in Iskandar Puteri, thereby elevating the socio-economic standing for Johor,” it said.

The master developer of Iskandar Puteri said the M40 group is integral to the growth of Iskandar Puteri and Malaysia’s talent pool.
