KOTA BHARU, Jan 9 (Bernama) -- The Tunjong Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) here has made history by becoming the first-ever Community Development Centre (CDC) in Malaysia, focusing on rural community development as a hub for agricultural innovation, education and local community engagement.

Agrobank president and chief executive officer Datuk Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin said that this initiative aligns with the government’s aspiration of providing swift and accessible self-development resources to all, particularly targeted groups, thereby benefiting the agricultural community.

“The setting up of this centre is one of the initiatives to fulfilling Agrobank’s vision of Advancing Agriculture Beyond Banking.

“The CDC also provides information on grants, subsidies, funding opportunities and access to financial resources crucial for the development of agricultural projects,” he told reporters after the launch of the Agrobank CDC here today.

The event was inaugurated by Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

Commenting further, Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah said the CDC also provides human capital development services by integrating farmers and technology to enhance efficiency. This includes the use of specialised agricultural tools, farm management software and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

“It also supports sustainable development in the delivery of economic, social and environmental benefits to create significant business value, such as Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and collaborations with government agencies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

“The launch of the CDC at the Tunjong RTC reflects our commitment to sustainable agricultural growth, manifesting our dedication to empowering local communities, fostering innovation and contributing to the long-term prosperity of the agricultural sector,” he said.
