Terengganu Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Zone 2 chief Azman Alias said one of the victims managed to contact the department at 4.29 pm and informed them of their location.

He said rescue efforts were currently underway, but personnel were facing several obstacles including the weather and the steep hill path.

"The victims have been identified as Muhammad Khairul Izzat Abas, 21; Muhammad Daniel Irfan Ahmad Redzuan, 19, and Muhammad Amin Amiruddin Sabmun, 18. All three are from Kemaman.

"A total of four engines and 15 personnel are involved in this operation. The department is monitoring and evaluating the safest and fastest route to bring down the victims," he said.

In the meantime, Azman advised the public to stop climbing and recreational activities in risky locations to avoid unwanted incidents.
