GEORGE TOWN, Dec 21 (Bernama) -- The Penang City Council (MBPP) will open applications for temporary seasonal stall licences in conjunction with the festive seasons, namely the Ramadan bazaar and stalls for the Chinese New Year and Thaipusam next year.
MBPP Public Health and Licensing chairman Tan Soo Siang said temporary stall permit applications for Thaipusam will be opened from Sunday (Dec 24) to Jan 24 next year while that for the Chinese New Year will be opened from Sunday (Dec 24) to Feb 9 next year.
"Temporary stall permit applications for the 2024 Ramadan bazaar will be opened from Sunday (Dec 24) to Feb 29 next year and approvals will take about three to 14 days. MBPP encourages all traders to apply for permits to prevent action from being taken against them,” she told a media conference here today.
She, however, said foreign nationals are not allowed to apply for the seasonal temporary stall permits and neither are they allowed to manage any businesses at any of the stalls or business premises in the state.
She also urged all food stall owners who will be operating the Ramadan bazaars and stalls in conjunction with the Chinese New Year and Thaipusam to ensure their workers handling the sale of food to take the typhoid jab.
