Mafa Appeal To Be Allowed To Play In Super League Next Season

MELAKA, Dec 17 (Bernama) -- The Melaka Football Association (MAFA) confirmed that they have appealed to the Malaysian Football League (MFL) and Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) to be allowed to compete in next season's Super League competition.

MAFA president Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh that the new MAFA leadership would also prepare the best framework to revive football in the state.

"Ahead of MAFA's 100th anniversary, it is our objective to return to playing in the Super League through negotiations with the relevant parties, although that is subject to the approval and conditions set by the Malaysia League (M-League) administrators.

"However, on our part, MAFA will find the best partners and it is hoped that it will help us realise our mission for next season,” he told a media conference after officiating the 67th MAFA Congress at Banda Hilir here today.

MAFA deputy president Datuk Mohd Saiful Mat Sapri said they expect a decision soon.

"We are still negotiating the terms that will be set by the MFL and FAM because they involve financial constraints due to the high cost of expenditure,” he said.

Meanwhile, at the congress, MAFA announced several new names in the executive committee for the 2023-2026 term, including Mohd Saiful being elected as deputy president replacing Datuk Mohd Yusof Mahadi.

The vice-presidents are Datuk Khaidhirah Abu Zahar, Datuk Fadzil A Bakar, Datuk Khairi Anuar Ahmad and Datuk C. Revindran.

The committee members are Mohd Azizi Shahril Abd Razak Khalim, Jezlee Pit, Dr Shankar Gunarasa, Dr Siti Faidul Maisarah Abdullah, Mohd Fairuz Azwad Mohd Zauwawi, Ahmad Khairul Mohd Noor, Melvin Tan Ching Yang and Syahrul Nizam Shamsuddin.
