SHAH ALAM, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- Selangor FC want to engage the service of their winger, Mohamad Faisal Abdul Halim for the long haul after displaying impressive performance since joining the Red Giants this season.
Selangor FC chief executive officer (CEO) Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon said at the moment, discussion on extending the contract between the club and Mohamad Faisal who is fondly known as “Mickey” is ongoing.
“Mickey is an important player for Selangor, we are keen to keep the excellent player, we are happy with Mickey and similarly he is happy with Selangor.
“So we hope to extend his contract,” he said when met after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Selangor and Citadel Group of Technologies at Selangor Football Association training centre here today,
The Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah who is also FAS president was present at the ceremony.
At the same time, following rumours linking the 25-year-old Harimau Malaya squad player to Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) next season, Johan said Mickey is currently committed to helping Selangor finish this season with the best results.
"He is a Selangor player for as long as he wants," he said.
Mickey joined Selangor from Terengganu FC this season for an undisclosed fee and has been a key figure in helping the Malaysia Cup champions to second place in the Super League with three games remaining this season.
He collected 11 goals in the Super League campaign and scored one in the FA Cup this season.
Mohamad Faisal is also a key player in the Harimau Malaya squad coached by Kim Pan Gon who has achieved a series of positive results throughout this year.
Earlier, Johan said the partnership with Citadel Group Technologies transcends conventional technology alliances.
