SUBANG JAYA, Nov 11 (Bernama) -- More national sports associations (NSAs) should emulate the example set by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) when drafting their roadmaps, said Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) president Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria.
He said FAM's F:30 Roadmap, which enters its second phase, will be the benchmark for the target that FAM can achieve for the year 2023-2026.
Phase Two of the F:30 was launched today to continue from where it left off under phase one (2019-2022) to achieve its target of dominating ASEAN in terms of governance, competition and development.
"What is interesting is that not many NSAs have created a blueprint with a specific timeline and also a key performance indicator (KPI). Not many put a transparent and real plan for their achievements.
"So, all parties must trust the process that has been laid down under F:30 and this is good work by FAM,” he told a media conference at the launch of the F:30 Roadmap here today.
Mohamad Norza also believes that more NSAs will produce roadmaps and, at the same time, create space for collaboration for all stakeholders, such as sponsors, supporters, athletes and coaches, to achieve success.
The F:30 roadmap is a 12-year roadmap (2019-2030) launched by FIFA president Gianni Infantino on Oct 31, 2018. It was divided into three strategic plans, with its first phase - from 2019 to 2022 - to build a solid foundation from governance, competition and human capital development as well as infrastructure.
It is followed by the second phase (2023-2026), which is targeted to be accomplished at the Asian level, while the third phase (2027-2030) is aimed at producing a national team of world-class standard.
Earlier, at the function, the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) also provided an allocation of RM2.3 million to FAM to carry out football infrastructure development.
