Two Itbm Book Readers To Join National Delegation To International Book Fair

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 (Bernama) -- For the first time, two book readers from the Malaysian Institute of Translation & Books (ITBM) will join the national delegation to an international book fair.

ITBM, in a statement today, announced that Nur Azwani Ali from Baling, Kedah and Dr Ehwan Ngadi, a university lecturer were selected for the Indonesian International Book Fair (IIBF) 2023 in Banten, Indonesia which will be held from Sept 27 to Oct 1. 

They were selected after winning the main prize, a special three-day, two-night package, in the ITBM Book Buy Contest & Win a Special Package to IIBF 2023 which was organised during the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2023 in May.

According to ITBM, they both managed to create the best slogan from the acronym I.T.B.M, in a contest with more than 500 participants.

Meanwhile, ITBM managing director and chief executive officer Sakri Abdullah said in a statement that the prize was an appreciation and encouragement to ITBM book buyers and readers to continue to love books and instill a practice of reading to cultivate critical and creative thinking.

“The culture and practice of reading must always be nurtured and expanded to produce a highly intellectual generation,” he said.

Apart from Nur Azwani and Ehwan, the first two prizes in the form of ITBM reading corner sets worth RM5,000 were won by Siti Faridah Leong Abdullah and Nurhusna Zainal Abidin, while 10 other winners received consolation prizes  in the form of ITBM book purchase vouchers worth RM300.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and Deputy Minister of Education Lim Hui Ying presented the prizes in a brief ceremony held in conjunction with ITBM's 30th-anniversary celebration at Wisma ITBM here today.
