KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 (Bernama) -- Oil and gas services and equipment provider Kemuncak Lanai Sdn Bhd sees its advanced work application (AWP) technology as a springboard to expand into Asean in the near future.

Its director of sales and business development Amir Hisham Albakri said this aim is being supported by its partner US-based technology provider Construct-X, a global player in innovative digital engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) solutions.

He said the AWP, an artificial intelligence-infused application will help the EPC process to be more seamless besides reducing delays.

He said the company has the required skillsets to perform the work and has good market coverage in Malaysia. It would like to expand its market to include industries such as power and renewables.

"We want to expand geographically but would like to build a solid foundation in Malaysia before going abroad," he told Bernama on the sidelines of Oil and Gas Asia 2023 today.

Kemuncak Lanai is involved in four business streams, namely professional manpower supply, which formed the backbone of the company, followed by minor engineering, AWP, and general trading business.

"The cash cow is in professional manpower supply because we have between 130 and 150 people whom we supply to different design consultants. We have about 80 people in the office. The rising star is the AWP because Petronas is the driver," said Amir Hisham.

Kemuncak Lanai said the AWP could eventually be another significant revenue contributor beginning next year, he added.

"We want to use the AWP in other projects but the focus now is on Petronas Carigali's Kasawari gas field project, where the AWP is being implemented in the Kasawari carbon capture storage (CCS), a mega-scale project.

"The main mother platform, also called the central processing platform, has been delivered and the CCS platform construction has commenced. It is a good decision by Petronas to implement AWP for the Kasawari CCS development. When you apply the new methodology, you can get better value creation," said Amir Hisham.

He said Petronas is procuring the software and Kemuncak Lanai is supporting the services part, he said.

"When they (Petronas) have other new projects and they want to adopt the AWP, we can do the consultancy as well," Amir Hisham said.

Earlier today, Kemuncak Lanai signed a partnership agreement with Construct-X to revolutionise the EPC business via AWP technology for construction management. The partnership will involve knowledge transfer, he said.
