Sunway Theme Parks Thrive In Global Attraction Index 2022

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- Sunway Theme Parks have once again cemented their position as a prominent tourist hotspot by securing a coveted position in the esteemed Global Attraction Index 2022 by Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) and AECOM.

In a statement today, Sunway Lagoon Sdn Bhd said the comprehensive index was a prestigious annual ranking which highlights the most visited and celebrated destinations, shedding light on the tourism landscape in different regions.

“With Sunway Lagoon claiming 5th place and 10th place for Sunway Lost World Of Tambun, this recognition solidifies Sunway Theme Parks as one of Asia Pacific’s most sought-after amusement destinations, offering visitors an unparalleled experience filled with thrills and entertainment,” the statement read.

It said that being the only theme park in Malaysia to be listed in TEA/AECOM’s 2022 index, not only reinforced Sunway Theme Parks as a formidable player in the domestic tourism scene but also demonstrated the flexibility to ever-changing market conditions and global economic crises such as COVID-19.

As the year of return-to-normal lifestyle and relaxed pandemic restrictions, 2022 also marked innovative beginnings and initiatives in Sunway Theme Parks, reducing friction for guests and allowing them to enjoy the full experience in both parks.

Garnering accolades for their innovation, world-class attractions, and exceptional guest experiences, Sunway Theme Parks showcased their commitment to providing visitors with an unforgettable adventure, even outside of their grounds.

“Sunway Theme Parks Mega Roadshow 2022 was definitely one of the biggest highlights with the support of Tourism Malaysia and the partnership with 50 authorised travel agents, corporate partners and Sunway Group’s business units.

“This travel and consumer roadshow successfully stimulated the local tourism scene despite the highest recorded number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia during that period,” it said.

According to the statement, the launch of Explorer Rangers is also an admirable effort towards the sustainability goals in Sunway Theme Parks, in which the programme gathered children under 12 years in a weekly in-situ educational wildlife class by the Education Ministry to learn about animals from wildlife parks in Sunway Lagoon and Sunway Lost World Of Tambun, as well as the sustainable efforts by the Sunway Group.

Sunway Lagoon also collaborated with Malaysia’s largest dairy manufacturer, Farm Fresh to debut the Wow Wild West themed Night Park that has brought in significant football during the year-end school holidays since the park opened.

Encouraging visitors to extend their #BestDayEver, Sunway Lagoon also opens its tents to the public by providing a unique campsite experience in their Camp Out! staycation package for visitors to spend their 24 hours with jam-packed activities from day to night at the theme park.

Collaborations aside, Sunway Lost World Of Tambun observed a bloom of love within their hippopotamus enclosure which led Malaysians to witness the now-viral first-of-its-kind hippopotamus Malay wedding in 2021 and one year later, the park hosted a ‘Majlis Berendoi’ or transitional ‘haircut’ ceremony for Jiwang and Juwita’s offspring, Jaguh.

The statement read that one of the other exciting initiatives by Sunway Theme Parks is the debut of STP Studios, which the recognition in the Global Attraction Index 2022 is a testament to Sunway Theme Parks’ dedication to continuously improving and enhancing their offerings to meet the evolving expectations of modern-day travelers.
