BUKIT MERTAJAM, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Machang Bubok state seat Lee Khai Loon of PKR, was reported to have fainted at his service centre here this morning.

Penang PKR deputy chairman Datuk Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik said Lee, 45, passed out at around 11 am after returning from campaigning for the state election.

“It is possible that he feels exhausted from the hot weather this morning, but he is now conscious and in stable condition. He has no serious illnesses and is currently resting at home,” he told Bernama when contacted.

Muhammad Bakhtiar, who is also Balik Pulau MP, said all programmes involving Lee had been cancelled for today. However, the party machinery would still proceed with the scheduled activities, which include meeting the electorates in the area.

“He is a hardworking man, and I was made to understand that he has been actively engaging with Machang Bubok voters since the start of the campaign on July 29,” he said.

Lee, who is the incumbent Machang Bubok assemblyman, will face a straight fight with Perikatan Nasional candidate Tan Hum Wei.

The Election Commission has announced that polling for the state elections in Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu will be held simultaneously on Aug 12 and early voting on Aug 8.
