Angkasa, Samsung Forge Cooperation To Strengthen Cooperative Business Ecosystem

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 1 (Bernama) -- Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Bhd (Angkasa) and Samsung Malaysia Electronics have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the cooperative business ecosystem specifically in the innovation and technology sector by opening opportunities for the movement to diversify its product offerings to consumers and its members.

Angkasa president Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Fattah Abdullah said this cooperation was a mark of confidence shown by industry participants to Angkasa and the cooperative movement, besides recognising the huge potential and value brought by the cooperative movement to the business landscape.

He said the first phase of the cooperation would enable the cooperative to procure product supplies online via JimatBiz at lower prices than the market, while under phase two, Angkasa would become one of the suppliers of Samsung products.

For Phase Two and beyond, consumers can get the devices through Angkasa’s subsidiary, MyANGKASA Holdings Sdn Bhd. 

Consumers also have the convenience of buying Samsung products online and have the option of paying by instalments through salary deduction.

“This additional initiative is in line with Angkasa’s objective to empower the cooperative and its members and to provide access to high-quality devices which could boost their productivity and competitiveness,” Abdul Fattah said in a statement today.

"This cooperation will enable it to grab a big share of the market, at least among the more than seven million cooperative members nationwide. 

"Angkasa also hopes that this cooperation will become the motivator for more collaborations with other industry players, thereby strengthening the cooperative ecosystem which offers huge benefits to the cooperative members and the public," he added. 

 The MoU was signed today by Abdul Fattah, on behalf of Angkasa, while Samsung Malaysia Electronics was represented by its president Denny Kim.
