Sunway Malls Launches ‘minecraft Mall Discovery’ A Play-based Learning Experience

KUALA LUMPUR, June 15 (Bernama) -- Shoppers and visitors can now step into an immersive Minecraft Education learning environment at the five selected Sunway Malls as the company launches the Minecraft Mall Discovery, starting tomorrow until Oct 29.

The Minecraft Mall Discovery will provide a wholesome play-based learning experience for families to discover and learn through the engagement including a series of workshops, photo walls, playground, dioramas and many more.

Sunway Malls and Theme Parks chief executive officer HC Chan said the initiative was a tripartite collaboration between the Sunway Malls and Educational Resources and Technology Division, Ministry of Education (MoE) as well as Microsoft Malaysia.

“The initiative was a great introduction into the world of digital education, hence, would ignite the current generation’s interest towards digitalisation and technological advancement,” he said at the launch of Minecraft Mall Discovery at Sunway Pyramid Mall, here today.

The Minecraft Mall Discovery will begin at Sunway Pyramid Mall tomorrow and continue until July 2, followed by Sunway Putra Mall, Kuala Lumpur (July 6-23) Sunway Carnival Mall, Penang (Aug 11-27); Sunway Big Box Retail Park, Johor (Sept 8-24); and Sunway Velocity Mall, Kuala Lumpur (Oct 12-29).

At the Minecraft Mall Discovery, visitors will be transported into the world of Minecraft as they immerse themselves in the intricately designed Forest Garden, Nether and Lava setting as well as mining and underground settings that Minecraft players are familiar with.

Microsoft Global Training Partners (GTP) and Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts (MIEE) will also teach Minecraft Education courses including Hour of Code where learners can explore coding concepts and puzzle solving challenges, as well as other activities that will cover a series of subjects.

Meanwhile, MoE and Sunway Malls will hold a Minecraft Education Challenge 2023 for school students with the theme, 'Sustainable Shopping Mall of the Future'.

Through this challenge, the students will have to reimagine and build with this theme in mind on Minecraft itself, and stand to win cash prizes, trophies and a certificate of participation for their efforts.
