Tun Juhar Praises Tabung Haji's Management Of Pilgrims

KOTA KINABALU, June 10 (Bernama) -- Sabah Governor Tun Juhar Mahiruddin praised the commitment of Tabung Haji (TH) in maintaining the quality of management for the nation’s pilgrims including those from the state.

Tun Juhar said the state government and TH always looked after the welfare of its pilgrims through the organisation of various courses, besides providing infrastructure and services in Sabah and during their stay in the Holy Land.

“I congratulate Tabung Haji as well as the government and private agencies involved in this year’s haj. I hope TH will continue its efforts to strengthen the haj management system so that it continues to be an example to other Muslim countries around the world,” he said when speaking at the Sabah Haj Pilgrims’ departure for the haj season 1444H here today.

Also present were his wife Toh Puan Norlidah R.M Jasni, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and his wife Datin Seri Julia Salag, as well as Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar.

A total of 142 pilgrims, who are the first group of pilgrims from Sabah, left for Kuala Lumpur this afternoon in transit on their flight to Saudi Arabia tonight.

Tun Juhar asked the pilgrims to maintain the moral and to stay away from unhealthy elements that could affect the image and good name of the state, by complying with the rules set by the government of Saudi Arabia to uphold the long-standing bilateral ties.

Meanwhile, Mohd Na’im in his speech said that a total of more than 31,000 Malaysian pilgrims have been selected to perform the haj this year, with 1,079 of them from Sabah. “The pilgrims are reminded to protect the good name of Malaysia,” he said.
