Kasma To Make Temporary Comeback In Moto2 As Replacement Rider

KUALA LUMPUR, June 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Kasma Daniel Kasmayuddin is set to temporarily return to the Motorcycle World Championship (MotoGP) for the Italian and German races over the next two weekends. 

The 22-year-old will replace Moto2 rider Kohta Nozane of Correos Prepago Yamaha VR46 Team for two consecutive rounds.

The Japanese rider is ruled out after sustaining back injury during the season-opener in the Portugal GP, in March.

The Malaysian Cub Prix Championship, in a statement, said the Johor-born Kasma would skip the fourth round of the Cub Prix at the Sepang International Circuit (South) this weekend to compete in the Moto2 races.

Kasma, who tops the Cub Prix overall standings with a total of 51 points after three rounds, will ride for Correos Prepago Yamaha VR46 Team in Mugello, Italy this weekend and in Sachsenring, Germany next weekend.

 “I apologise to my team and my fans for not being able to ride in the Cub Prix this weekend. I would like to take this opportunity to also wish my team and all the other riders all the best for the race at Sepang,” said Kasma, who will return for the fifth round of the Malaysian Cub Prix Championship.

Meanwhile, Correos Prepago Yamaha VR46 Team also announced the update on their social media platforms.

Kasma’s full season in the Moto2 ended in 2020 due to financial constraints, despite having signed three-year deal with Onexox TKKR SAG Team.

Apart from the Malaysian Cub Prix, he also competes in the ASB1000 class of the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC).
