PHNOM PENH, May 16 (Bernama) -- Cambodia had once again denied Malaysia’s hopes of winning the cricket gold at the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games after the national men’s team lost by 10 runs in the men’s T10 final, here today.

Powered by several imported cricketeers from India and Pakistan, Cambodia, hit 106 runs in 10 overs while Malaysia who chased the host country’s runs managed 96 runs in 10 overs in the final held at the AZ Group Cricket Oval.

This was the national men’s team’s third silver in a row in the biennial Games here after they lost to the hosts in the 50-overs and Twenty20 (T20) respectively.

Malaysia failed to defend their 50-overs after going down to Cambodia by 89 runs followed by another defeat in T20 by 12 runs against the host.

Meanwhile, the national women’s team ended their outing in Phnom Penh with a second bronze, this time in the T10 event, as they lost to the host in the final.

Yesterday, Malaysia managed to defend their women’s T20 bronze medal after they pipped neighbours, Singapore, by eight wickets.
