Pinang Tunggal, Kulim Hi-tech Lra resume Full Operations - Sada

ALOR SETAR, May 15  (Bernama) -- The Pinang Tunggal and Kulim Hi-Tech water treatment plants (LRA) which were affected by the sudden drop in the Sungai Muda water level yesterday have resumed full operations today.

In a posting on Facebook, Syarikat Air Darul Aman Sdn Bhd (SADA) said that efforts to increase the operation of the Sungai Petani LRA are still underway, adding that it was operating at 40 per cent capacity as of noon.

“The water supply disruption and recovery period in affected areas differ and depends on the distance of consumers’ premises and the water pressure on the water supply distribution system. Affected users will receive water supply in stages,” it said.

SADA also said that nine water distribution centres had been activated in the Kuala Muda and Kulim districts since yesterday.

“In the Kuala Muda district, the distribution centres are at the Ambangan Height night market site; Caltex station in Taman Universiti; behind the Petronas Taipan station in Bandar Puteri Jaya and the Taman Ria Mosque,” it said.

In Kulim, it involves the Taman Legenda tank; Surau Taman Cengal; SADA Batu 3 in Lunas; Petronas Taman Mutiara/Sungai Kob stations and BHP Desa Aman station.

Yesterday, Bernama reported that around 252,000 user accounts in Kuala Muda, Kulim and parts of Baling were experiencing unscheduled water supply disruption due to the sudden drop in the river water level caused by the damage to the Sungai Muda barrage gate.

SADA said the incident resulted in the operation of the Sungai Petani, Pinang Tunggal and Kulim Hi-Tech LRAs being temporarily suspended until the river level stabilises.
