Qari, Qariah Of Hulu Langat Win S'gor Quran Recitation Competition

SHAH ALAM, May 12 (Bernama) -- Tajwid teacher Izzat Azizi Zainal and Al-Quran study centre founder Nor Ruzana Natiah Jaafar were respectively crowned as the best ‘qari’ (male reciter) and ‘qariah’ (female reciter) at the 1444H/2023M Selangor State Level Al-Quran Recitation and Memorisation competition here tonight.

Izzat Azizi, 31, and Nor Ruzana Natiah, 40, both representing the Hulu Langat district, received RM15,000 in cash along with a trophy, a set of clothes and a certificate of participation.

The Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah presented the prizes to the winners at a ceremony held at the Shah Alam Islamic Lecture and Muzakarah Hall, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque.

Selangor State Secretary Datuk Haris Kasim was also present.

Izzat Azizi who obtained a score of 87.5, surpassed Faris Hadi Taufik (Petaling) who obtained 87, while Muhammad Isyraq Shahruddin (Kuala Selangor) came in third with 86.

Nor Ruzana Natiah who got 88.5, beat Siti Rodiah Mohamad Noor (Petaling) with 73.5, while Fidatul Akhmar Gosnon (Sabak Bernam) finished third with 72.5.

Nor Ruzana Natiah was also named the best overall participant for Al-Quran recitation, and Muhammad Izzul Affan Sazali was crowned the best overall participant in the memorisation category, with each taking home a gold bar worth RM10,000

Izzat Azizi and Nor Ruzana Natiah are expected to represent Selangor at this year's National Al-Quran Recitation Competition which is scheduled to take place in Butterworth, Penang from June 11 to 16.
