PETANQUE CONTRIBUTES ANOTHER BRONZE TO MALAYSIAN CONTINGENT
The national petanque squad had to be satisfied with a bronze medal after Muhammad Adam Haiqal Mohd Zaki and Mohd Fadzrul Ismansyah Mohd Faizal lost at the semifinal stage during the men’s doubles competition at the Petanque Olympic Complex here today.
The pair lost to Pheap Vakhim-Puth Yon Chandara from the host country 8-13, and as a result were awarded the bronze medal as losing semifinalist. Vietnam who lost to Thailand in the other semifinal were also awarded a bronze medal.
In the contest for gold, Thailand beat Cambodia 13-4 to emerge as the champion.
NATIONAL BOXER MANAGES A BRONZE
Malaysian hopeful Indran Rama Krishnan who moved into the semifinal of the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games men’s 86kg category, failed to punch his way into the final at the Chroy Changvar Convention Centre, here today.
The 1-4 points defeat to Indonesia’s Maikhel Roberrd Muskita gave him a bronze medal.
NATIONAL PAIR END THEIR CHESS OUK CHAKTRANG CAMPAIGN IN SIXTH SPOT
The country’s ouk chaktrang chess players Nhavin Kumaresan-Eshwant Singh Anoop Singh ended their 2023 Cambodia SEA Games campaign in sixth place after suffering another defeat in the group stage.
In the competition held at the Royal University of Phnom Penh, the Malaysian pair lost to Cambodia’s Bou Bunmalyka-Yan Sok Leang 1-0.
Nhavin-Eshwant managed only one win in the group stage by beating Laos pair Chi Yang-Khonsavanh Senglek, 1-0 last Thursday.
TOOTHLESS MALAYAN TIGRESS FAIL TO ROAR IN CAMBODIA
The women’s football team that competed in the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games ended their campaign without a win after suffering a 1-5 defeat to Myanmar in the final Group A match at the Army Stadium, here today.
Soleen Al-Zoubi’s charges were already out of contention after trailing 0-3 in the first 45 minutes and Myanmar added another two in the second half.
Intan Sarah Anisah Zulgafli scored a consolation goal for the toothless Malayan Tigress to save the blushes thus ending their campaign without a win.
