JOHOR BAHRU, May 3 (Bernama) -- The Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) football club will hold a junior international tournament to provide better competition for the JDT Academy trainees.
Its chief executive officer, Alistair Edwards, however, said further information regarding the tournament would be announced soon once it is sanctioned by the relevant authorities.
“The current structure under the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and Malaysian Football League (MFL) only provides for competitions for Under-18, Under-23 up to the senior team only.
“It is necessary to have competitive tournaments for all our academy teams because we have Under-12 to Under-18 teams lacking quality competitions.
“This tournament will be open to domestic and international academies,” he posted on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page.
