Mfl, Pfam Sign Agreement To Set Up Football Player Protection System

KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Football League (MFL) and the Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM) signed a Collaboration Agreement (Terms of Reference) to establish a protection system for professional footballers and safeguard the interests of local sports clubs here today.

MFL chief executive officer Stuart Ramalingam said the collaboration with PFAM is one of MFL's important efforts to improve the quality of the local professional football league in all aspects, especially club management and player career development.

"MFL welcomes this collaboration because we believe that the progress achieved by the club and the players will reflect the value of a league. For that reason, the MFL has taken a big and bold step before by implementing the privatisation of the club as well as restructuring the Malaysian League.

"Therefore, we see that this proactive step with PFAM will create an efficient framework process between PFAM and MFL through a mutually agreed upon process and mechanism," he said in a statement issued by PFAM today.

PFAM chief executive officer Izham Ismail said the governing body was committed to working with MFL to ensure players' rights were protected while maintaining the integrity and commercial value of the league.

"This Collaboration Agreement is proof of PFAM's shared vision and dedication to develop the professional football sector in Malaysia," he said.
