KUALA LUMPUR, March 27 (Bernama) — The Securities Commission (SC) has recorded 244 Capital Markets Services Licence (CMSL) holders as at Dec 31, 2022, from 241 in 2021.
In its Annual Report 2022 released today, the SC said that the CMSL holders carry out various regulated activities as defined under Schedule 2 of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007.
“The entities involved are dealing in securities (38), derivatives (five), fund management (106), advising on corporate finance (41), investment advice (17), investment advice (individual) (one), financial planning (34) and financial planning (individual) (two),” said the SC
Meanwhile, the Capital Markets Services Representative’s Licence (CMSRL) holders stood at 10,370 last year from 10,273 in 2021.
Under the application for new company licences, it said five fund management licences were issued from four in 2021, and one license in advising on corporate finance was issued last year.
As for the application for new representatives’ licences, the SC said 441 licences were issued for dealing in securities, dealing in derivatives (71), fund management (109), advising on corporate finance (156), investment advice (50), and financial planning (215).
It noted that four applications for new representatives’ licences for dealing with securities were withdrawn, followed by one in dealing in derivatives, fund management (seven), investment advice (two), and financial planning (two).
Meanwhile, 75 applications were returned on dealing in securities, dealing in derivatives (seven), fund management (37), advising on corporate finance (18), investment advice (five), and financial planning (32).
The SC also said two company or individual licences in fund management activities were ceased and one licence was revoked in dealing in derivatives activity.
On cessation of representatives’ licences, it said 604 licences were ceased from dealing in securities, dealing in derivatives (86), fund management (103), advising on corporate finance (144), investment advice (45) and financial planning (85), while one WAS suspended in fund management last year.
