JOHOR BAHRU, March 25 (Bernama) -- The number of flood evacuees in Batu Pahat remained the same as this afternoon, with 141 people from 37 families still placed at two temporary relief centres as of 8 pm today.
The State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) said that a total of 79 people from 22 families were placed in the Yong Peng Community Hall while 62 evacuees from 15 families were placed at Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Medan respectively.
“Some of the areas in Yong Peng still affected by floods are Kampung Parit Lapis Bangas, Kampung Jalan Lama, Taman Melur, Kampung Parit Amil, Taman Desa Suria and Taman Berlian.
“In Seri Medan, the affected areas include Parit Yusof, Parit Haji Ahmad, Parit Warijo, Parit Bangas, Parit Sendayun and Parit Seri Pasir,” it said in a statement tonight.
The JPBN added that Sungai Bekok at the Bekok Dam is still at the warning level with a reading of 18.95 metres (m), while Sungai Sembrong at the Sembrong Dam is at the alert level with a reading of 10.68m.
The weather in all 10 districts in the state is reported to be cloudy tonight.
