KUALA LUMPUR, March 21 (Bernama) -- The Inspirational Teacher's Award, or Anugerah Guru Inspirasi (AGI), organised by McDonald’s Malaysia in collaboration with the Education Ministry is back for the seventh year to recognise and appreciate teachers in helping their students achieve academic excellence.
McDonald's Malaysia's managing director and local opening partner Datuk Azmir Jaafar said nominations for AGI McDonald’s 2023 are open from yesterday until April 15 and Malaysians are encouraged to nominate their teachers.
Azmir said the 25 inspirational teachers selected for the award will each receive cash vouchers worth RM5,000, a trophy and a certificate. And for the first time, the winners’ schools will also receive a RM5,000 allocation for upgrading teachers’ staff rooms.
"To further encourage students to display their appreciation for their teacher, every qualified nominator will receive the National Level Participation Certificate that would contribute towards their Physical, Sports and Co-Curricular Assessment (PAJSK) marks at school," he said in a statement here today.
Azmir said Malaysians can submit their nominations as a gesture of gratitude and appreciation towards admirable teachers who have left a positive impact on their lives through www.mcdonalds.com.my/en/anugerahguruinspirasi.
"McDonald’s has always been appreciative of the countless contributions from our teachers, who have made selfless sacrifices for the development and nurturing, as well as the positive impact provided to children in the aspects of academic, co-curriculum and character building.
"AGI McDonald’s is a platform created and introduced by McDonald’s seven years ago, with the purpose of recognising and appreciating our teachers across the nation,” said Azmir.
Azmir noted that this year’s collaboration between McDonald’s and the Education Ministry was an initiative by McDonald’s Malaysia in response to the ministry's call for more corporate participation through various projects, such as Corporate Social Responsibility, to realise People-Centred Education.
Other than the award ceremony, McDonald’s also invited selected teachers across the nation to participate in Teacher’s Day celebration at all its outlets throughout May to celebrate their contributions and roles as the community’s backbone in educating and making a significant impact on the students.
Organised by McDonald’s Malaysia since 2017, AGI McDonald’s has been a much-anticipated event that has never failed to attract nominations every year.
As of 2022, AGI McDonald’s had received more than 30,000 nominations, with 131 inspirational teachers awarded since 2017.
