ANGKASA AIMS TO OPEN 200 COOPHARDWARE BRANCHES

SHAH ALAM, March 10 (Bernama) -- National Co-operative Movement of Malaysia Berhad (Angkasa) is targeting to open 200 Coophardware branches nationwide by 2025.

Its president Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Fattah Abdullah said the initiative was aimed at offering basic housing construction materials at a price 20 per cent cheaper than the market.

“Angkasa serves as a platform for cooperatives to buy materials in bulk from overseas suppliers and sell them at cheaper prices and the Coophardware branches will be set up through a special consortium,” he said.

He said this to reporters at a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between Koperasi Perumahan Awam Malaysia Bhd (Kopama) and Chester Denai Alam Sdn Bhd here today.

Abdul Fattah said that so far, 20 Coophardware branches have been opened natiowide and the initiative has not only been able to reduce the rising cost of building materials but also helped cooperative members buy homes at more affordable prices.

On the MoU signing, he said the collaboration was to provide opportunities for other cooperatives to generate income from the sale of houses built by Kopama.
