PUTRAJAYA, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- The construction of the Sekolah Kebangsaan (LKTP) Kampung Awah canteen in Maran, Pahang is listed in 74 projects certified by the Ministry of Education (MoE) under the third rolling plan of the 12th Malaysia Plan.
The ministry in a statement today said that the approval of the project is subject to the 2023 Budget which will be tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Minister of Finance, in the Dewan Rakyat on Feb 24.
The project involves the demolition of existing dilapidated buildings; construction of new buildings including canteen and other facilities according to standards and accessible for people with disabilities; procurement of new equipment and improvement of the existing infrastructure facilities.
In 2019, the Public Works Department (JKR) made an analysis and confirmed that the school's canteen building cannot be fully used and the condition was dangerous for students.
The ministry said the school had set up a special tent for the use of students and teachers during break time.
The school has also put up tape to restrict entrance to the canteen area for safety reasons after it was declared unsafe by JKR, said the statement.
"The MoE is always committed to ensuring that the school is in a good, safe and conducive condition for the comfort of all students and teachers," it said.
