No plans for Felda United FC's return to M-League - Idris Jusoh

KUCHING, Feb 3 (Bernama) -- Any hopes of the Felda United FC team making a comeback to the M-League was dashed when the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) announced that it has no plans to see the team play in the M-League.

Felda chairman Tan Sri Idris Jusoh said Felda has a bigger task of focusing on the process of increasing the value and prestige of the authority.

“Currently we do not have any plans to return to the M-League because we have a bigger agenda. However, we are still focused on the development of the Felda Football Academy so as to train young players from schools,” he said.

Speaking to reporters after paying a courtesy call on Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg here today, Idris said Felda was spending about RM500,000 a year for the academy.

Rumours were rife on social media that Felda United FC would be making a comeback to the M-League soon.

Felda football club which was formed in 2007 had won the Premier League title in 2010 and 2018, became the FA Cup runner-up in 2014 and made it to the semifinal stage of the Malaysia Cup on four occasions.

However, in October 2020, the Felda management announced that Felda United FC’s participation in the M-League will end in 2020.
