KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 1 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) with the cooperation of  College University of Yayasan Pahang (UCYP) will focus on enhancing productivity in the agriculture and tourism sectors in western Pahang.

Hence, MPC and UCYP have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for such cooperation in six districts in the state, namely Bera, Jerantut, Bentong, Cameron Highlands, Raub, and Lipis.

MPC director-general Datuk Abdul Latif Abu Seman said the focus of the MOU is based on the core pillars of the Malaysia Productivity Blueprint (MPB), namely talent, technology, rules, and a productive mind, in line with the aspirations of the Pahang government.

“The main objective of this cooperation is to enhance investments and development of the economy, including the development of human capital, including the local communities and the Orang Asli,” he said in a statement.

Among the initiatives identified is a programme called Academy in Plantation (AiP) which targets youths who have dropped out of mainstream learning.

The MPC together with UCYP, via the Tourism Nexus, will accelerate activities to promote local tourist attractions in the state such as eco-tourism, he added.
