GEORGE TOWN, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- Penang Adventist Hospital has inked a collaboration agreement with United Imaging Healthcare to offer digital PET-CT scan, making it the first private hospital in the northern peninsula to acquire such technology.
Penang Adventist Hospital president and chief executive officer Ronald Koh said that the advanced technology equipment will allow doctors to detect cancer in its early stages, clearer than three-dimensional (3D) imaging and with higher accuracy on biopsy sites.
“This technology will greatly aid in the process of recurrence assessment and surveillance assessment,” he told reporters at the partnership agreement signing ceremony yesterday.
He added that with the PET-CT scanner’s low radiation and faster scan times, patient care and comfort will also be greatly enhanced.
Koh said the hospital is also the first in Southeast Asia to instal the technology for this particular model of uMI 550 digital PET-CT scanner.
He stated that the digital PET-CT scanner will be made available to the patients in the first quarter of this year.
Koh added that keeping up with the latest innovative medical equipment will allow Penang Adventist Hospital to better serve the community.
“Our first and foremost mission is to provide the best healthcare to our patients.
“I am confident that with the addition of this new advanced technology, we can provide our patients with better treatment experience and patient care,” he said.
