Paroi Stadium pitch to be replaced with Zeon Zoysia type grass - Mohamad Taufek

SEREMBAN, Jan 24 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan state government has agreed in principle to replace the pitch at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi with the Zeon Zoysia type of grass, with the cooperation of the Ministry of Sports (KBS).

State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Datuk Mohamad Taufek Abd Ghani said Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh had made an offer to the state government with regard to replacing the current turf at one of the stadiums chosen by the state.

Mohamad Taufek said the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium was chosen as the stadium to be replaced with the Zeon Zoysia type of grass because it is the same type of grass used at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri Johor, National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, Singapore National Stadium and Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia.

“Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh made the offer. The offer was to share the cost between the state government and the Ministry. I have briefed the state government two weeks ago and in principle we have agreed to pick the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium.

“The date to carry out work on the replacement of the pitch has not finalised because we have to look at the Super League schedule since the league will be starting soon. The cost for ground works and drainage will be taken care by the state government and the laying of the turf will be handled by the KBS,” he told Bernama.

Mohamad Taufek said if work starts on the replacement of the pitch and the date clashes with the Super League schedule, the Negeri Sembilan FC will have to use alternative stadiums, especially Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia Stadium (USIM) in Nilai or the Universiti Teknologi Mara Stadium (UiTM) in Seremban 3.

“Both stadiums are currently used by the NSFC for training and both are equipped with seats and other facilities as well as meet the size and requirements of international standards,” he said.

He added that the other option is to use stadiums in Melaka or Selangor.
