MELAKA, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- Melaka FC are set to feature a new team image and entity as they continue their process of setting up a formidable lineup of players and coaching staff for the Malaysia League (M-League) next season.
Melaka FC chief executive officer Ridzuan Ahmad said they have registered their team with the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) for the M3 League competition next season.
He also explained that the Melaka FC squad would be a new entity, with no connection at all to the Melaka United football club that was previously mired in various issues and controversies.
He said that the training session, which will begin on Monday (Dec 19), will see 60 players vying for selection and that the final list of players would be announced in January.
“We are allocating an estimated RM2 million budget for the M3 League next year, including the wages of players and coaching staff," he told reporters today.
He added that they have also obtained the cooperation of the club’s sponsors to hire a head coach from Europe and the main target will be to take Melaka back into the top-tier Super League in 2024.
For the record, Sarawak United FC and Melaka failed to obtain their national club licences for next season as they did not fulfil the requirements set in the MFL Club Licensing Regulations 2022, thus becoming ineligible to compete in the 2023 Super League.
