ALOR SETAR, Nov 10 (Bernama) -- Kuala Nerang assemblyman Mohamad Yusoff@Munir Zakaria has been appointed as the new Kedah state executive councillor (Exco) for the Public Works, Water Supply, Water Resources and Energy portolio.
Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the Sultan of Kedah, Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah had approved the appointment to replace Sungai Tiang assemblyman Datuk Suraya Yaacob, from UMNO, who resigned from the post on Oct 13.
"The swearing-in ceremony before His Royal Highness the Sultan of Kedah took place at the Audience Hall, Istana Anak Bukit (in Alor Setar) at about 11 this morning," he told a press conference at Wisma Darul Aman here today.
Muhammad Sanusi said he hoped that all parties will cooperate with Mohamad Yusoff to carry out the responsibilities entrusted to him.
Meanwhile, Mohamad Yusoff, 58, a Kedah PAS Liaison Committee member, expressed his gratitude to the Kedah Ruler and the menteri besar over the appointment and promised to discharge his duties to the best of his ability.
