IPOH, Nov 9 (Bernama) -- Pakistan defeated Japan 5-3 to finish third in the 29th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament at the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Stadium here today.
World number 18 Pakistan got their goals through Abdul Shahid (10th minute, field goal); Ahmad Arbaz (17th minute, penalty corner); Rooman (26th and 34th minutes, both field goals); and Abdul Rana (52nd minute, field goal).
World number 17 Japan, meanwhile, scored through Kentaro Fukuda (ninth minute, field goal) and Yuma Nagai (30th and 49th minutes, both field goals).
Meanwhile, in the fifth-sixth placing match earlier, Egypt scored an upset 2-1 win over South Africa.
World number 20 Egypt scored through Ziad Adel (29th minute, penalty corner) and Hossameldin Ragab (43rd minute, field goal) while world number 14 South Africa got their goal through Connor Beauchamp (11th minute, field goal).
The national team will take on South Korea in the title showdown tomorrow at 8 pm.
