KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 (Bernama) -- Super League champions, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) did well to secure a 3-0 victory over Premier League runners-up, Kelantan FC in the first leg of their 2022 Malaysia Cup semifinal tonight.

Playing away at Sultan Muhammad Ke-IV Stadium, the Southern Tigers did not have any trouble dominating the game, blazing 2-0 ahead in the first half, much to the dismay of the 20,000 strong home crowd.

Super League top scorer, Bergson da Silva opened accounts with a 29th minute header while teammate Muhammad Syafiq Ahmad scored in the 37th minute.

JDT’s third goal of the match came in the 74th minute through Velazquez. Even the sending off of JDT midfielder in the 75th minute for picking up his second yellow card could not change Kelantan’s fortunes.

Sabah FC, meanwhile, can rest easy with a 1-0 advantage after winning against Kuching City FC at State Stadium, Kuching tonight.

Sabah’s Baddrol Bakhtiar was the man of the match when he scored the solitary goal in the 69th minute.

Kuching City will against Sabah in Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu while Kelantan will meet JDT in the second leg next week to determine the 2022 Malaysia Cup finalists.
