KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 (Bernama) -- After winning the men's open compound event on Wednesday (Nov 2), national archery para athlete G. Daneshen continued his winning streak by adding two more gold medals to his haul at the 2022 Malaysian Para Games (Para Sukma) today.
He won the men's individual compound Olympic round event by defeating Penang archer Mohamed Saifullrizal Mohamed Sakhir, 135-131, and the open men's doubles event with fellow Kedahan Azrul Abd Rashid by beating Muhammad Aizat Zaini-Muhammad Nazri Ariffin of the Federal Territories 148-142 at the Turf field, National Sports Council (NSC), Bukit Jalil.
The 25-year-old, who has had leg nerve problems since birth due to polio, also competed in the mixed team compound event with the J. Sharon but had to settle for the silver medal losing to the Perak pair of Nur Jannaton Abdul Jalil-Mohd Zafi Rahman Mat Saleh, 140-128.
"I am very happy to have won gold again today. In total I got three golds and one silver at the Para Sukma Games this time. During the last edition in Perak (2018) I only won a bronze medal in the open men's doubles event.
"The wind was really strong during the individual event, but my efforts have been worth it. This is the first time I have been paired with Sharon, so the silver medal means a lot," he told reporters here today.
Daneshen is dedicating his success to his father R. Govinda, his family members and coaching staff who helped him throughout his career in archery.
