02/11/2022 10:14 PM

MELAKA, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- Melaka United FC will announce the club's direction in the near future after being unable to compete in the 2023 Malaysian Football League (MFL) when an appeal to seek a national licence was rejected.

Its Chief Executive Officer Datuk Justin Lim said the situation will further affect the future of the Melaka football club because it has no source of income if it does not play in the Malaysian League.

He said it will also impact the future of the team's staff and officials.

"What's more, for now, there are investors and white knights who are interested in buying Melaka United FC to save the Melaka football club," he said in a statement here today.

Yesterday, Malaysian Football League (MFL) Chief Executive Officer Stuart Ramalingam said the appeals of Sarawak United FC and Melaka United FC were rejected by the MFL Club Licensing Appeal Committee (AB), in accordance with Article 3.4.4 contained in the MFL Club Licensing Regulations 2022 Edition.

Stuart said the decision made by the First Instance Body (FIB) on Oct 12, remains.

Previously, MFL FIB Club Licensing Chairman Sheikh Mohd Nasir Sheikh Mohd Sharif said Melaka United failed to submit proof of payment to players and official salary arrears forl June and August this year.
