Iqra' TH IPTA 2022: TH channels RM600,000 to 20 IPTA nationwide

BATU PAHAT, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) today channelled a donation of RM600,000 to 20 selected public institutions of higher learning (IPTA) nationwide under its Iqra' TH IPTA 2022 programme.

TH group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Sri Amrin Awaluddin said the fund will be distributed to 30,000 IPTA students from asnaf or underprivileged families.

He said Iqra' TH IPTA 2022 is one of the agency’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes that will benefit rural and urban poor communities.

“We hope that this contribution can ease the financial burden and facilitate IPTA students to continue their studies until graduation.

“At the same time, it will be able to change the family's economic standard of living,” he said in a statement today.

Earlier, he handed over the contribution at the launch of the Siswa Sulung Keluarga Malaysia Development programme (SULUNG) and the presentation of the Ministry of Higher Education's sponsorship offer letters to the Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad, at the Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) here.

Amrin also explained that the CSR contribution under Iqra' TH IPTA 2022 is the largest, which is hoped to produce more committed, quality students, able to compete at all levels and ensure that they can become successful individuals in the future.

He said that the programme was initially only focused on primary school students, then TH has expanded the targeted assistance to asnaf and B40 students who are studying at the tertiary level.

“TH is always committed to carrying out CSR programmes to help the target group, especially the asnaf group, in the sustainable development of the community. Other TH CSR programmes include Ikhtiar, Mobiliti, A’fiat dan Ehsan,” he said.

Also during the ceremony, Noraini presented mock cheques to 20 IPTA representatives.
