KANGAR, Oct 16 (Bernama) -- Six houses in Kampung Sentua here were affected by a flash flood following a heavy downpour since yesterday.
Perlis Civil Defence Force (APM) director Lt Col (PA) Mohd Izaimi Md Daud said APM personnel had been instructed to observe the situation and provide aid to the victims.
“From our observation, the water level at four areas, namely, Kampung Seriab, Kampung Sentua, Kampung Bakau and Taman Kuala Perlis, has risen to the ankle level. However, no temporary relief centre had been opened,” he told Bernama today.
Mohd Izaimi advised the public to abide by instructions from the authorities to avoid untoward incidents.
“The public is also advised to place their valuable items on a higher level and to make sure that their children do not play in the rain during this wet season,” he said.
He added that the APM was working with the Fire and Rescue Department, the Malaysian Volunteer Corps Department (RELA) and the Drainage and Irrigation Department to ensure the safety of the people.
