Drag racer killed at botk buried today

IPOH, Oct 16 (Bernama) -- Drag racer Muhamad Hafez Jamal Jamaludin, who was killed during a mishap while participating in the Battle of The King (BOTK) 2022 at the Terengganu Race Track in Gong Badak yesterday was buried at the Meru Raya Muslim Cemetery here today.

About 200 people, comprising relatives and friends, attended the funeral which was held at about 10.10 am.

Prior to that, Muhamad Hafez Jamal’s body, which arrived from the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) in Kuala Terengganu, was brought to his family home at Puncak Meru and then taken to the Al Muttaqin Mosque, Taman Meru, for the funeral prayer.

 Muhamad Hafez Jamal, also known as  Apeh Jamal. 40, and the third of five siblings, left a wife, Norhasyimah Shairi, 37, and four children, aged 18, 11, nine and seven years.

Apeh Jamal died after sustaining serious injuries when his drag car Mitsubishi Lancer Evo lost control and crashed into a tree near the track at about 11.35 am yesterday.

The race was then stopped immediately and its organiser, MUSC Motorsport, announced it was suspending the race series, which was supposed to end today,  to show respect to the victim and his family.
