UniKL stays on list of world's best universities

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 (Bernama) -- Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) remains in the list of the world's best universities based on the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking 2023 report published yesterday (Oct 12).

Rural Development Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said according to the report, UniKL which is a higher education institution under MARA is ranked 1201-1500 in the world and 14th in the group of best universities in Malaysia.

"I congratulate the top management of UniKL and also the entire academic staff who have proven their competence to successfully place UniKL and Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) in the world's best list," he said in a statement here today.

He said the The World University Ranking 2023 study which covers 1,799 universities in 104 countries is the largest and highest university ranking report at global level and is recognised by all parties.

According to him, all universities, including UniKL, are evaluated based on 13 performance indicators that are carefully measured across four main areas, namely teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international prospects.

In the meantime, UniKL president and chief executive officer Datuk Dr Roziah Omar in the same statement said the university will continue to double efforts to balance the emphasis on improving reputation, financial sustainability and nation building to achieve the objectives set by the Ministry of Rural Development, MARA and MARA Corporation.

Roziah said UniKL aims to be ranked in the top 600 in the list of the world's best universities by 2025.           -- BERNAMA
