KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 (Bernama) -- Popular local animation series ‘Mechamato’, which has been shown on the Netflix streaming platform since Oct 1, has caught the attention of not only local but also international viewers, especially from Japan.

Faiz Zainal Aabidin, the Branding and Marketing head of local animation studio Monsta, said the Japanese audience and fans have been giving positive and encouraging responses using the hashtag #メカアマト on Twitter.

"This animated series, which features the archipelago and global elements has captured the hearts of viewers from within and outside the country.

"Before this, we were presented with animations from Japan that were translated into Bahasa Malaysia, now it is the turn of animations from Malaysia to be translated into foreign languages," he said in a statement today.

Faiz said through local animations like Mechamato, Malaysia’s diverse culture, food and traditions can be promoted to the whole world.

Season One of Mechamato can now be watched on Netflix in six languages namely Bahasa Malaysia, English, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin and Thai in addition to seven subtitles such as Tagalog and Indonesian.

The animation is also being shown on local television station TV9 every Monday and Tuesday at 6 pm starting yesterday.
