LIMBANG, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- The Village Entrepreneurs Carnival (KUD) 2022 organised by the Rural Development Ministry (KPLB) has surpassed the original sales target of RM200,000.
Deputy Minister of Rural Development Datuk Hasbi Habibollah said direct sales and business matching deals from the carnival which started yesterday, has reached RM270,000.
"This is a good sign for us in Limbang. If such a trend continues and the economy prospers we can turn Limbang into a hub for KPLB to promote and sell products from village entrepreneurs in Sarawak," he said when met at a Cat Contest held in conjunction with the carnival at Dewan Suarah Limbang, here today.
Hasbi said the number of visitors targetted to visit the carnival had also surpassed expectations and the targetted figure of 5,000 a day because the number of visitors to the carnival today was between 17,000 to 18,000.
The carnival features about 100 entrepreneurs from various agencies under KPLB offering their products for sale at the carnival, including food and beverages, handicraft, agricultural produce and health products.
The carnival was organised as a platform for KPLB to promote products from village entrepreneurs so as to assist them in securing direct interaction with wholesalers, distributors, and consumers.
Apart from the Cat Contest, the carnival also featured Premier Forum, League for penalty kicks, fun ride cycling and cooking show hosted by Datuk Nash, Hafiz Suip and Winnie Albert.
