LABUAN, Sept 25 (Bernama) — Labuan's Merdeka Trophy 2022 Golf Tournament was successfully staged on Sept 24 at Labuan International Golf Club (LIGC), with 118 golfers of single handicap to 24 taking part in the day-long event.
The participants included Senator Datuk Bashir Alias, Labuan MP Datuk Rozman Isli, Labuan Chinese Chamber of Commerce president Datuk Wong Kii Yii and local journalists.
The annual tournament returned this year after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
LIGC general manager Abdul Razak Abd Samad said the tournament was an avenue to build closer rapport amongst the respective members as well as to create networking opportunities with the larger business community and relevant stakeholders in this duty-free island.
Crest Link, Cahayapack, Sarasutra Sdn Bhd, F&N, Hotel Aifa, Tiara Hotel, Dorsett Grand Hotel, Langkah Aktif, Broadwin Sdn Bhd and MASwing were the sponsors for the event, which offered a Proton Pesona car and RM10,000 cash as the hole-in one prizes.
“We appreciate the sponsors’ support for the tournament that connects golfers and local leaders for a good cause,” Abdul Razak said.
The event concluded with a dinner and prize presentation ceremony for the tournament winners.
