News in brief: Sept 7, 2022

TENAGA NASIONAL BHD’s (TNB) wholly-owned subsidiary, TNB Power Generation Sdn Bhd, has received a letter from the Energy Commission for the extension of the power purchase agreement (PPA) of Sungai Perak Hydroelectric Power Plants.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, TNB said the PPA has been extended for five years starting from September 1, 2022 to August 24, 2027.

Sungai Perak Hydroelectric Power Plants comprises six stations with a total capacity of 649.1 megawatt.

CENSOF HOLDINGS BHD has announced the redesignation of its independent director Tan Sri Dr Mohd Shukor Mahfar as its new chairman, replacing Tan Sri Mohd Ibrahim Mohd Zain who has retired.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company also announced the retirement of its independent and non-executive director Ab Gani Haron.

Mohd Shukor, 66, who holds a Doctor of Public Administration from the Golden Gate University, United States, was the former chief executive officer of the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM) until his retirement in December 2016.

HAILY GROUP BHD’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Haily Construction Sdn Bhd, had accepted a letter of award from Meridin East Sdn Bhd for a construction contract worth RM17.5 million.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said the contract is for the construction of 108 units of double-storey terrace houses in Bestari Perdana, Johor Bahru.

It said the project would be completed within 16 months from the commencement date, to be determined later.
