NEW DELHI, Sept 6 (Bernama) -- The Indian and Pakistani leaders have congratulated Britain's new Prime Minister Liz Truss.
"Congratulations @trussliz for being chosen to be the next PM of the UK. Confident that under your leadership, the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will be further strengthened. Wish you the very best for your new role and responsibilities," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Twitter.
"I extend my felicitations to @trussliz on being elected leader of the Conservative Party. The election reflects the high confidence placed by Tory membership in her vision and policies," Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif tweeted.
Truss, 47, received 81,326 votes against her rival Rishi Sunak’s 60,399 in the party leadership contest to succeed outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
