MUKAH, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- Sarawak Petronas has rebuilt eight Community Development Department (Kemas) preschools (Tabika) in Matu district here.
Sarawak Petronas programme implementation manager Nor Azam Abg Zawawie said the reconstruction project, with a total allocation of RM1.18 million, was part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) to ensure a conducive and safe learning environment for local children.
He said the reconstruction of Tabika Kemas at Muring Longhouse was considered as the most challenging because the village could only be accessed by water transportation.
Other preschools include in Bruan Besar, Sekaan Besar, Jemoreng and Pergau, he said.
“At the same time, the project provides job opportunities for local contractors. We also received good cooperation from Jemoreng assemblyman Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya Juanda who wants the involvement of various agencies such as the district Public Works Department and Kemas to ensure that this project runs smoothly," he told Bernama today.
