KUANTAN, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah arrived at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan today to watch the final of the 2022 Sultan of Pahang Cup between Semantan Troopers FC and Pasir Pekan FC.
Upon arrival at 4.30pm, the King was accompanied by the Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri'ayatuddin Shah, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and other state officials.
The Sultan of Pahang Cup featured eight teams that played in a knockout format, four from Pahang and another four from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Terengganu and Kelantan.
The four teams from Pahang were Alam Mahkota, FC Jerantut, Semantan Troppers FC and Yayasan Pahang Maintenance while Pasir Pekan FC from Kelantan, Cyberjaya Teleflow from Selangor, KRU FC (Kuala Lumpur) and FC Kerteh (Terengganu) completed the list.
The King, an avid footballer himself, later presented prizes to the winning team - Pasir Pekan FC from Kelantan which beat Semantan Troopers FC 2-1.
Earlier, Al-Sultan Abdullah arrived at the Under-12 Football Carnival organised in conjunction with the Sultan of Pahang Cup at the Kuantan City Council’s Synthethic Pitch situated next to the Darul Makmur Stadium.
The King spent about 30 minutes to meet young players from 16 teams that participated in the carnival from Pahang, Kuala Lumpur, Terengganu, Perak and Kelantan.
