DELIMa Platform 2.0 to be launched, more interactive too

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 1 (Bernama) -- In an effort to fuel the transformation of education towards digitisation, the Ministry of Education (MOE) will launch DELIMa (Digital Educational Learning Initiative Malaysia) 2.0 which is more interactive.

MOE School Management Division director Zainal Abas said this digital learning platform contains teaching materials that can be accessed not only by teachers but also by students and parents in helping the learning process.

"Talking about the internet is actually about how it can help make the education system more fun and students can do research online... although now there may be no need for online learning but the use of computers can still be empowered through more interactive educational resources.

"Touching on interactive, we previously launched the DELIMa platform that contains teaching and learning (PdP) that can be used by teachers as well as students and parents... so during the period of the Promote Education Transformation programme, we will launch DELIMa 2.0 by developing Artificial Intelligence to make the DELIMa experience for students and teachers more exciting and interactive, where even users can communicate to get information," he said.

He explained this when he appeared as a guest on the Ruang Bicara programme entitled 'Bersama Semarakkan Education Transformation' broadcast by Bernama TV here tonight.

DELIMa, which was launched on June 15, 2020, is supported by the three strategic partners of Apple, Microsoft and Google, which is not only a platform for the PdP process but also acts as a space for collaboration between teachers.

In the meantime, Zainal said the Ministry of Education is also planning to train teachers to use the Microsoft Reading Progress system to help students master reading, especially in English.

"Through this application, students will read and then an analysis will assess the student's ability, this is also one of the innovations in PdP," he said.

According to Zainal, the digital education transformation process will not stop even if the COVID-19 phase has ended, in fact it will continue to be improved in line with current needs.

"We will continue to increase digital transformation to help students and schools, if we look at the computer labs that have more than 7,000 labs to be improved, we will also create a 'hybrid classroom' for students, this will be implemented during the Merdeka month in the joint effort to fuel the transformation of education," he said.

In order to transform education so that is no longer exam-oriented, Zainal said MoE is also planning an engagement session to provide information for the public, including stakeholders in schools such as parents and the community.

"Empowering the implementation of School-Based Assessment (PBS) in addition to end-of-year tests, we also look at students' development through co-curriculum which is also emphasised... there is also Psychometric Assessment (PPsi) that can help the Ministry of Education and parents to see a student’s inclination," he said.
