JOHOR BAHRU, July 27 (Bernama) -- It’s confirmed. Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) head coach Benjamin Mora has left the team and returned to Mexico to attend to some personal matters.

However, JDT said in a post on the Southern Tigers Facebook page that their door would always be open to the 43-year-old coach to come back.

“JDT Football Club would like to thank Mora for his services. Mora has asked to be allowed to return to Mexico to attend to his personal matters. JDT respects his request and our door will always be open for him to return in the future.

“Thank you, Mora. You will always be a part of the JDT Family. See you again,” JDT wrote on the post today.

The club said that Mora is JDT’s most successful coach, having guided the Southern Tigers to four Super League titles, four Charity Shields and one Malaysia Cup as well as taking them to the knockout rounds of the AFC Champions League this year.

According to JDT, the Mexico-born coach won 102 of the 148 matches that he was in charge of throughout his two stints with the club since 2017.

Mora, who has vast experience coaching several clubs in Mexico, was appointed as JDT II head coach on Dec 14, 2015, before being named JDT head coach replacing Mario Gomez on Jan 18, 2017.
